As a professor emerita who has taught at Sacramento State University for over 20 years, a California Tribal College for 4 years and served tribal communities throughout the United States through University of California Davis Tribal program, she has collected stories from many tribal communities. From her own Purepecha tribal ancestry she has captured the story of a legendary princess from the early 1500’s while weaving in the challenges of a modern-day young woman who bears the same name, Eréndira. Dr. Borunda will engage the audience in the presentation of Eréndira while integrating Indigenous flute, rhythm, and storytelling. On this one-day excursion to Athlone, Dr. Borunda will share the magic of diverse Indigenous narratives from the American continent. All welcome, from 6-7pm
