*Pope Leo XIV: Sport as a Mirror of Divine Love and Human Growth* At the closing Mass for the Jubilee of Sport on Trinity Sunday, Pope Leo XIV drew a deep connection between the nature of the Triune God and the transformative power of sport. He described sport as a reflection of divine beauty—an arena where generosity, cooperation, and personal growth thrive. The Pope emphasized that in a world marked by solitude, digital detachment, and competitiveness, sport offers a path toward reconciliation and authentic encounter. He highlighted how athletic discipline cultivates humility and resilience, reminding all that champions and saints are not born but shaped through daily effort. Referring to both St. John Paul II and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati—soon to be canonized—Pope Leo affirmed the role of sport in evangelization and sanctity. He challenged athletes to embody God’s love in their actions and to see failure as a means for personal renewal. Closing his homily, the Pope entrusted the journey of athletes to Mary and urged them to strive not just for trophies, but for the “prize of eternal life.”
