💥Ringer lactate solution is considered one of the ideal solutions, especially in cases of fluid resuscitation, but there is a warning to prevent its use in patients who have liver diseases, what is the reason behind this prevention?
⭕️ Let's go back in the story from the beginning
Ringer lactate contains the following ingredients:
➖ Na+
➖ CL-
➖ K+
➖ Ca+
➖ plus Na lactate
⭕️ This lactate is transformed by the liver into HCO3 and thus it is equivalent to any acidity in the blood and things are back to normal if there was already metabolic acidosis.
⭕️ But in the case of liver disease, this process will not take place and the lactate will not turn into HCO3. Instead, lactate will accumulate and increase acidosis (lactic acidosis), so it is forbidden to use it in patients with liver disease. ❌❌
