π What is your diagnosisβ Cow was presented to clinic with a history of abnormal swelling noted at the vu*lva three to four weeks following calving. ποΈOn examining the cows, a round enlargement ranging from four to six inches in diameter, covered with vag*inal mucosa was noted protruding between the vul*var lips. The swelling felt soft, fluctuating and did not elicit pain on palpation, Exploratory puncture with a large bore needle revealed the presence of clear viscid fluid.

π‘Observe Angioedema in dog, often caused by an allergic reaction, manifests as localized swelling, particularly in the face, lips, tongue & throat. This swelling is due to increased vascular permeability, leading to fluid leakage into the subcutaneous tissues. In animals, angioedema can be triggered by various allergens, including food, medications, insect bites, and environmental allergens.

π‘Did you know? When it comes to sedating horses, not all drugs are risk-free for every patient. πAcepromazine, a commonly used tranquilizer, must be used with caution in stallions. Why? It can cause penile prolapse (paraphimosis) serious complication that may impact a stallion's breeding or working potential. As veterinary professionals, understanding drug contraindications isn't just about safety - it's about ensuring long-term health and value, especially in performance or breeding animals. π©ΊClinical insight matters. They are 2 in number, one on each side of vestibule; each has a single duct lined with transitional epithelium which opens in the lateral wall of vestibule about 2.5 cm caudal to vag*ina. πFormation of retention cysts arising from occlusive lesions of duct, as in metaplasia of lining epithelium associated with chronic hyper- estrogenism in cows with ovarian follicular cysts,Trauma & extension of local necrotic vag*initis leading to obstruction of duct opening as causes for Bartholin gland cyst seen in older cows. π Usually presence of cystic Bartholin is unilateral, which disturb shape of external genitalia & a degree of vag*initis occur. with this defect, considered presence of Bartholin glands as reservoirs for pathogenic organims. ποΈππ€π©π: The cyst cause no problems at parturition nor it interfere with conception. However, since vul*var lips are kept opened by cystic enlargement, contamination of vag*ina, vestibule & vulva with feces & dirt may occur. βͺοΈMay interfere with AI. βͺοΈOften mistaken for prolapse βͺοΈ Does not affect calving /conception. π₯Ringer lactate solution is considered one of the ideal solutions, especially in cases of fluid resuscitation, but there is a warning to prevent its use in patients who have liver diseases, what is the reason behind this prevention? βοΈ Let's go back in the story from the beginning Ringer lactate contains the following ingredients: β Na+ β CL- β K+ β Ca+ β plus Na lactate βοΈ This lactate is transformed by the liver into HCO3 and thus it is equivalent to any acidity in the blood and things are back to normal if there was already metabolic acidosis. βοΈ But in the case of liver disease, this process will not take place and the lactate will not turn into HCO3. Instead, lactate will accumulate and increase acidosis (lactic acidosis), so it is forbidden to use it in patients with liver disease. ββ Half Baked Veterinarian π©Ί
