𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗮: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 In the heart of Gomoa Adedantem, a community in Ghana’s Central Region, hope is being restored—one job at a time. The HAPPY Program, through its collaboration with Aglow Farms, is transforming lives and bringing dignity to households once burdened by poverty and unemployment. For Mavis Donkor, a mother of seven, life used to be a daily struggle. Feeding her children, seeking healthcare, and surviving each day came with deep uncertainty. “There were days I would cry, not knowing where the next meal would come from,” Mavis recalls. “When my child fell sick, I couldn’t even afford to take them to the hospital.” That changed when Mavis joined the HAPPY Program and began working in the packaging department of Aglow Farms, a poultry processing facility supported by the initiative. “Now, I walk into the hospital with confidence when my children fall sick,” she says with a smile. “I’ve saved money on my phone. I can take care of my children.” Beyond financial relief, Mavis has found empowerment and independence. “Aglow has changed my story. Now, I won’t let any man deceive me for money—I earn my own. I’m strong, proud, and grateful.” She isn’t alone in this transformation. In nearby Gomoa Potsin, where Aglow Farms operates, young people who once struggled to find purpose are now employed, saving, and looking ahead with hope. Lydia Tawiah, another participant of the program, shares a similar testimony: “The work has helped me in several ways. I now have enough money to start my own business,” she says. “I want to encourage my colleagues who are sitting idle at home to join the program.” These are more than stories—they are evidence of what targeted investment in youth and women can achieve.
