*A Woman is Married for Four Things*
The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
*"A woman is married for four things: her wealth, her family status, her beauty, and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman, (otherwise) you will be a loser."* (Bukhari, Muslim)
A recent tragedy in Kerala shook many hearts—a young woman, full of dreams and hopes, ended her life after facing relentless harassment over her beauty and dowry. What made it worse was that those who should have protected her—her own husband and in-laws—were the ones who pushed her into despair. This is not the first case, nor will it be the last, if society continues to measure a woman's worth by superficial standards instead of the qualities that truly matter.
*The Beauty of Islam* ✨
Islam offers the perfect solution to this deeply rooted societal disease. The Prophet ﷺ taught us what to value in a woman: not just her looks, not just her wealth, but her *dheen*—her connection to Allah, her character, her faith. If this was the priority, would any woman be reduced to mere external attributes? *Would any woman be tormented for what she does or does not possess in this fleeting world?*
A woman who has *dheen* will not crumble under trials. She will have an *unshakable inner light, a fire of faith* that will sustain her through the darkest of times. No amount of cruelty can extinguish *the heart that finds solace in Allah*. And when a man chooses a woman for her *dheen*, he is choosing a queen of the akhirah, whose beauty, wealth, and status will shine eternally.
*Marriage Built on Faith, Not Facades* ☝🏻
If men sought women for their *dheen*, their marriages would not be built on unrealistic expectations but on unwavering commitment. If a woman were chosen for her faith, she would be loved for who she truly is, not for the temporary glow of youth or the riches in her father's house. And if men themselves prioritized *dheen*, they would not subject their wives to cruelty, nor would their families treat her as a burden to be weighed, priced, and purchased.
Islam is not just a religion; *it is the cure for a society that has lost its way.* It offers *dignity* where culture strips it away. It grants honor where the world gives humiliation. And it teaches *love that is pure, purposeful, and eternal.*
May Allah grant us the wisdom to seek *dheen* over dunya, and may He protect our sisters from the evils of a world that fails to see their true worth.
