The main reason why a woman wears the hijab is, first and foremost, because Allah commands it.
Secondly, because women are precious and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
The Qur'an says:
"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be recognized and not be abused."
The point here is not to objectify women or oppress them, but rather to honor and protect their value.
