The case came to light on 13 June 2025, when a plumber repairing a drainage system unearthed the infant’s remains. In a statement shared on their official Twitter account, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that Siziba had given birth to a baby boy on 28 May 2025 and buried him to conceal the birth. Authorities have since opened an inquiry file, and police have urged members of the public with any relevant information to come forward. The incident has raised concerns about infanticide and concealed births, with law enforcement warning that such acts carry severe legal consequences.
