He opened his mouth to the Lord and never reneged on his oath. I cannot do this wickedness and sin against God. He wasn't opportunistic. He wasn't flippant. He was determined to please God rather than break the rules of God. Unlike today, when believers are dangerously toxic, the Christian of yesterday was driven by virtue and godliness. Joseph had no teacher nor pastor, he had no counsellor, yet his life was a testimony of grace and godliness. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house forever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:34-36). The commitment of Joseph to God was pure and steadfast. If you don't keep your own side of the covenant, then you shouldn't expect to see God show up in unprecedented ways for you today and the coming years! Let your words guide your actions. It pays!
