#kenya: *NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PASSES FINANCE BILL 2025*
Kenya’s National Assembly has officially passed the Finance Bill 2025, setting the stage for new tax measures aimed at raising KSh 24 billion in revenue for the 2025/26 financial year.
The bill, which now awaits President William Ruto’s assent, underwent key amendments, most notably the removal of a controversial clause that would have granted the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) unrestricted access to personal data, a move hailed as a win for privacy rights under Article 31 of the Constitution.
Other highlights include the retention of zero-rated status for locally assembled electric vehicles, solar batteries, and animal feed inputs, as well as full tax exemptions for all pension payments.
Once signed into law, the Finance Act 2025 will guide Kenya’s fiscal policy for the year ahead.
