#kenya: *KWALE COUNTY UNVEILS A PROPOSED KSH 10.6 BILLION BUDGET FOR THE 2025/2026 FINANCIAL YEAR*
Kwale County’s KSh 10.6 billion budget for 2025/2026 reflects a strategic shift toward essential services amid tighter funding.
Governor Fatuma Achani emphasized that the scaled-down budget prioritizes healthcare, road infrastructure, and water services, which are seen as critical to improving livelihoods and building long-term resilience.
The focus is on healthcare, water, and roads, with over 178 facilities, 40+ boreholes, 40+ dams, and 570 km of pipeline extensions, and 2,000+ km of upgraded road networks.
The county is also conducting public participation forums across all 20 wards to ensure the final budget reflects grassroots priorities.
Residents like Hassan Kuchengwa and Zawadi Juma have praised the inclusive approach, calling it a turning point for local governance.
