#kenya: *CONSTABLE MUKHWANA TO REMAIN IN CUSTODY FOR 21 DAYS OVER OJWANG'S MURDER PROBE* Police Constable James Mukhwana has been ordered to remain in custody for 21 days as investigations continue into the death of blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang’, who died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody at Nairobi’s Central Police Station. In a detailed statement, Mukhwana reportedly implicated his superior, OCS Samson Talaam, claiming he was instructed to have inmates “discipline” Ojwang’, a directive allegedly traced back to Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat. The court granted the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) more time to complete their probe, citing serious allegations of police misconduct.
