NITI Aayog organised a meeting under the Chairmanship of Dr. V.K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, to develop a Comprehensive Framework for drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation in Himachal Pradesh. This meeting involved multidisciplinary stakeholders from the Himachal Pradesh, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, esteemed medical institutions such as PGIMER and AIIMS, and NITI Aayog. The meeting discussed the necessary and vital interventions needed for drug de-addiction in Himachal Pradesh. The Action pathways focused on long-term care, community support, and a pyramid model of intervention from Primary Care to Apex institutions. The objective was not just about curing addiction but also about restoring lives, building resilience, and preventing relapse through sustained community support and a stronger health system. With strengthened telemedicine, empowered CHOs, and deep community engagement via ASHAs, Anganwadis, and schools, the way ahead would mark a transformative step toward recovery, dignity, and hope. This initiative underscores a firm commitment to public health and social well-being in the State.
