Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the vision document, 'Viksit Odisha@2047, Samrudhh Odisha@2047'. This comprehensive blueprint, prepared by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, sets a transformative roadmap for Odisha to emerge as a developed state by 2047. The Odisha vision document sets an ambitious target of achieving a nominal GSDP of USD 500 billion by 2036 and to become a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047, aiming to contribute 5% to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the current 3%. The current nominal GSDP, which stands at INR 9.5 lakh crore, is targeted to reach INR 175 lakh crore (USD 1.5 trillion) by 2047. Concurrently, the vision aims to elevate Odisha's per capita income from its current USD 2,200 to USD 9,000 by 2036, and further to USD 28,000 by 2047. Odisha holds immense potential for accelerated development, owing to its abundant natural resources, particularly minerals, and its advantageous strategic coastal location. The state's strong existing industrial base, notably in sectors such as steel and aluminium, further positions it as a promising driver of India's growth. This forward-looking vision reflects a collective commitment to ensuring inclusive, sustainable, and equitable growth across Odisha, contributing significantly to the broader 'Viksit Bharat@2047' national aspiration.
