New York City: We’re heading into a few days of extreme heat 🥵🔥☀️Heat is the number one weather-related cause of death in NYC. Make a plan now to stay safe.
What does this mean?
Weather is considered dangerous when temperatures reach 90°F or higher for two or more consecutive days.
How to protect yourself:
✅ Use air conditioning — it’s the most effective way to prevent heat illness and death.
✅ Know your Cool Options, which are safe, air-conditioned spaces you can go to during extreme heat:
• A friend’s or family member’s air-conditioned home
• Libraries, museums, senior centers
• Malls, theaters, coffee shops
• NYC Cooling Centers, open during heat emergencies and free to the public
