Europe Largely Offsets Decline in U.S. Aid to Ukraine
Europe is currently compensating to a significant extent for the reduction in U.S. assistance to Ukraine, with the Nordic countries and the United Kingdom leading the effort.
These findings come from a study by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy's Ukraine Support Tracker.
The report notes that aid flows to Ukraine shifted significantly in March and April 2025. While the United States — formerly Ukraine’s largest donor — did not provide any new aid during this period and has not announced new support since early January, European countries have increased their contributions.
As a result, for the first time since June 2022, Europe has surpassed the United States in total military aid, reaching €72 billion compared to €65 billion from the U.S.
