Australia has imposed sanctions on 60 vessels from Russia’s “shadow fleet,” used to bypass existing oil sanctions, according to the government website.
The restrictions affect the vessels’ access to ports, as well as their insurance and maintenance.
“This is Australia’s first targeted sanctions strike on the fleet—and immediately the most focused and powerful. A number of these vessels were recommended by our sanctions group,” said Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President’s Office and co-chair of the Yermak-McFaul sanctions group.
