Led by MDEC team Malaysia lit up the Malaysia pavilion at the Annecy International Animation Festival - MIFA2025, showcasing 15 Malaysian creative studios, namely Inspidea, Anima Vitae, Fly Studio, Lil Critter, Tickle Pod, Joove, R&D , Spacesheep, Lemonsky, Pixelline, Grim Films, Pipapo, Dino Howl , Momo Dica & Siung Films. Here are some of the highlights : 🔹South East Asia Pitch Spotlight This is the dedicated Partner Pitch event featured four Southeast Asian countries – Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand & Vietnam with 5 titles. Tickle Pod presented “Sleepy Town” while Grim Films presented “Cyberonin” , demonstrating Malaysia’s strong standing in regional storytelling. 🔹South East Asia continued discussions There were discussions between the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam on 2026 Annecy SEA mentorship and Pitch @ Annecy, the upcoming ASEAN Digital Content Summit in Johor Bahru and next year’s Kuching Animation & Games Festival collaborations and participation. 🔹Memorandum of Agreement Malaysia’s Siung Film Productions and France’s Windrose formalised a collaboration on Anavau, a series rooted in Kadazan folklore. Created by Jo Luping and supported by MDEC and SCENIC, the project brings together local talent and studios to celebrate Sabah’s culture and stories. At Annecy, MDEC reaffirmed our commitment to driving Southeast Asia’s digital growth through Malaysia.
