MDEC was honoured to witness the official opening of PMBI Technology Sdn. Bhd., a powerful joint venture between China’s tech giant Inspur Group and leading Malaysian partners. Held at Menara AIA Sentral in Kuala Lumpur, the event carried the theme “Digital Empowerment: Connecting Southeast Asia with Intelligence” and brought together distinguished guests and industry stakeholders to mark a new chapter in cross-border digital innovation. Notable speakers included Mr. Liu Jiyong, Group General Manager of Inspur Group; YBhg. Dato' Mohamad Razali Bin Mohamad Rahim, Chairman of Pelaburan MARA Berhad; Yang Berbahagia Tuan Fabian Bigar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital; and YB Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha binti Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories). MDEC was represented by Razif Abdul Aziz, Head of Business Services, and Yvonne Yong, Chief of Staff. The event featured a ribbon-cutting and a tour of PMBI’s tech showcase. This joint venture reinforces Malaysia’s growing role as a digital leader ahead of its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, with PMBI focusing on AI, smart cities, and digital infrastructure. To further this momentum, on 13 June 2025, Inspur’s leadership—Mr. Liu Jiyong, Group General Manager, and Mr. Alan Zhao, Senior Vice President, held a strategic dialogue with key MDEC units. Discussions focused on Inspur’s plans to strengthen its presence in Malaysia and expand across ASEAN, as well as investment opportunities. Datuk Harjit Singh, MDEC Board Director, also shared insights into Malaysia’s competitive tax incentives, the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ), and other state-driven initiatives. Dr. Lee Vee Meng from the National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) also shared updates on Malaysia’s AI roadmap and upcoming 5-year plan to scale nationwide adoption. The collaboration reflects MDEC’s continued commitment to driving high-impact digital investments and innovation across Malaysia and ASEAN. #sayadigital #malaysiadigital
