Volunteer Opportunity: Lead Author – Plastic Reduction and Control Chapter Help lead the development of the Climate Recovery Plan’s Plastic Reduction and Control chapter by shaping global policy solutions that tackle plastic pollution, promote circular design, and protect public and planetary health! 🌍 About Us: The Climate Recovery Plan (CRP) is a youth-led global initiative building a bold, justice-driven international climate accord. We’ve developed 23 chapters that span key climate focus areas — from oceans and energy to environmental justice and waste — and we’re assembling a talented, international team to finish and refine each one. 🌊 About the Chapter: The Plastic Reduction and Control chapter addresses one of the most urgent environmental threats of our time. With plastics responsible for 3.8% of global GHG emissions, polluting oceans, harming wildlife, and disproportionately impacting low-income and marginalized communities, this chapter focuses on regulatory action, product bans, reuse systems, and circular design solutions. It also incorporates health impacts, social justice dimensions, and international trade implications — and proposes enforceable international frameworks for systemic plastic reform. 🎯 What You’ll Do: -Serve as lead writer and content strategist for the Plastic Reduction and Control chapter -Conduct research on plastic legislation, circular economy models, and alternatives to harmful polymers -Collaborate with a team of youth authors, global advisors, communities, and climate justice advocates -Integrate issues like microplastics, gendered impacts of waste work, and extended producer responsibility -Help shape and communicate real, enforceable solutions that push beyond plastic bans and toward global systems change 💡 Ideal Background (not required): -Environmental science, climate policy, waste management, or public health knowledge -Writing or editing experience, especially with technical or policy content -Familiarity with extended producer responsibility (EPR), UN SDGs, or circular economy models -Passion for equitable environmental reform and international collaboration 🙌 Why Join Us? -Play a lead role in shaping a high-impact international climate policy document -Collaborate with other youth leaders, researchers, organizations, and policy practitioners -Get credited as a lead author and featured on the CRP website -Use your voice to help reimagine a plastic-free, justice-centered global economy 🌐 Check out our (very much in-progress) website: https://climaterecoveryplan.org — Interested in applying?
