Volunteer Opportunity: Lead Author – Climate-Induced Displacement Chapter
Help lead the Climate Recovery Plan’s Climate-Induced Displacement chapter by researching and writing global policy solutions that protect displaced populations, establish legal frameworks, and ensure equitable resettlement and climate resilience.
🌍 About Us: The Climate Recovery Plan (CRP) is a youth-led global initiative working to shape a bold, people-centered international climate framework. With 23 chapters covering everything from oceans to health to justice, CRP is building toward an international accord rooted in equity, science, and action. ⛑️ About the Chapter: The Climate-Induced Displacement chapter is one of the most urgent components of the CRP. With rising sea levels, wildfires, droughts, and extreme weather already displacing tens of millions, this chapter outlines a comprehensive global framework to protect, support, and empower climate-displaced people. It proposes new legal designations, funding mechanisms, and support structures for vulnerable communities — especially those in the Global South and frontline regions — while also addressing the role of frontline defenders and the need for international legal recognition. 📝 What You’ll Do: -Serve as lead writer for the Climate-Induced Displacement chapter -Collaborate with youth contributors, advisors, organizations, and global partners to refine and expand the chapter -Conduct research on displacement data, legal gaps, resettlement strategies, and international response models -Develop frameworks that include protection grants, economic empowerment, cultural integration, and emergency response -Help advocate for the inclusion of climate displacement in global policy agendas 🔍 Ideal Background (not required): -Experience or studies in migration, refugee law, climate justice, or human rights -Strong writing and editing skills -Understanding of the SDGs, climate adaptation, or international development -Interest in advocacy, social equity, and humanitarian policy 🙌 Why Join Us? -Contribute directly to a chapter that could inform future policy at COP and beyond -Collaborate with youth and experts working toward systemic climate justice -Be credited as a lead author on a published, international document -Help bring visibility and protection to the world’s most vulnerable climate-affected communities 🌐 Check out our (very much in-progress) website: https://climaterecoveryplan.org — Interested in applying?
