Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, welcomed stakeholders at the ‘National Conference on Agri Stack: Turning Data into Delivery’ today at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the transformative role of digital technology in agriculture and the significance of the Digital Agriculture Mission in enabling data-driven innovation. He underlined the importance of Farmer ID and Farmer Registry in promoting self-registration, removing intermediaries and ensuring transparency. These IDs will serve as the foundation for major schemes like PM-KISAN, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, etc for improved targeting and accountability. Dr Chaturvedi appreciated the efforts of states already implementing the initiative and encouraged others to adopt it. He added that digital tools will enable more precise and farmer-centric extension services.
