Families of five forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals, staged a peaceful protest in Nushki today, demanding immediate release of their loved ones. The demonstration began at Shopping Road, near the Police Station Chowk, and concluded in a sit-in outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC).
The families of MPhil scholar Ghani Baloch, Naseebullah Baloch, Ghulam Rasool Baloch, Rasool Bakhsh Baloch, and Fareed Baloch joined the protest. Many of the missing have been unaccounted for months or even years, and their families continue to suffer in the absence of justice and information.
According to the protestors, they have approached multiple state institutions but received no response, only silence and indifference. The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner briefly met with the families, initially expressing helplessness. Later, they requested written applications and promised to contact the โrelevant departmentsโ for further inquiry.
Enforced disappearances remain a grave human rights violation under international law. The targeting of students, scholars, and civilians in Balochistan is a direct assault on the regionโs right to life, dignity, and due process. Families of the disappeared continue to carry the burden of uncertainty, trauma, and systemic neglect.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) stands in solidarity with the families and reiterates its call to the United Nations, UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch to take urgent notice of the worsening human rights crisis in Balochistan and hold the Pakistani state accountable for these crimes.
