*A National Tragedy That Has Shaken Us All!* Today, our nation witnessed one of the most horrific aviation disasters in recent history. Air India Flight 171 (Boeing 787 series) crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of 241 passengers and crew on board. Only one survivor has been reported. Tragically, the aircraft crashed into the undergraduate hostel complex of BJ Medical College, directly impacting the canteen area where several MBBS students and healthcare workers’ family members were present. Multiple casualties have been reported among medical students, with many others injured. The full extent of the loss is still being assessed. Visuals emerging from the scene are disturbing and deeply distressing. The West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Forum (WBJDF) extends its deepest condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives in this unprecedented disaster. We stand in solidarity with every family affected, and with the entire medical fraternity in Gujarat and across India.
