*🛡️Ajivika Sect* ♟️The Ajivika Sect was an ancient Indian philosophical and ascetic group that believed in fate, or niyati, and lasted until the 14th century ♟️The Ajivikas believed that everything in the universe was predetermined by fate, or niyati, and that human actions did not influence outcomes. They believed that people would undergo many cycles of birth and death to achieve liberation, or Moksha.  *💎Founder* ♟️The Ajivika Sect was founded by Makkhali Gosala, a contemporary of Mahavira and Gautama Buddha.  ♟️The Ajivikas were a major rival of Vedic religion, early Buddhism, and Jainism.  *💎Popularity* ♟️The Ajivikas were popular during the reign of the Mauryan emperor Bindusara, who is said to have been a follower of the sect. The sect is also mentioned in the edicts of Asoka.  *💎Sources* ♟️The Ajivika Sect's theories are known from Buddhist and Jain sources, as the original scriptures of the Ajivika school are unavailable.  ♟️The name Ajivika may mean "following the ascetic way of life".
