NAME AND SHAME: Treasury has released a list of government suppliers who were paid last year to.for goods and services but failed to honour their contractual obligations. Some of these companies include Croco Motors which was paid over US$3:million to supply buses and vehicles to the Public Service Commission but did not. Rainbow Towers did not supply snacks worth US$112,000 to the PSC. Sinotruck did not deliver 50% of Isuzu vehicles to Local Government Ministry, despite being paid US$154,000. Many other companies are listed below. The list of shame was submitted to the Public Accounts Committee by the Ministry of Finance. Committee chair Charlton Hwende said they will issue summons to the listed companies starting this Friday. "Public funds must be protected, and accountability must prevail. Beginning this Friday ,the Committee will summon representatives of these companies to provide explanations and face scrutiny. There will be no tolerance for mismanagement of taxpayer money," said Hwende.
