*_ARTUZ:_* Zimbabwe's Education Crisis: A Cry for Justice. 19 June 2025 The brutality of the Zimbabwean State has reached an alarming level, directly targeting innocent citizens in a desperate attempt to silence dissent. Yesterday, @PoliceZimbabwe subjected Indho Moyo, a young girl in Form 2, to horrific torture. Their aim? To coerce her into falsely implicating her mother in the recent, peaceful protests for education. This barbaric act has left a child deeply traumatized, a stark reminder of the State's monstrous grip on its own people. `Follow and Share Change Radio for Real-Time News & Updates on WhatsApp!` https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va5kPp2KGGGQkePy4t1q The police confiscated the cellphone of the young girl asking her to report to the police daily. Today she missed school as she had to report to police. Her Grandfather has also been summoned to the police. The whole family is being targeted. They are treating them like terrorists. Just because one family member is accused of having participated in a peaceful protest. Another victim, Farai Maruce, was severely tortured while in police custody. His "crime" was protesting ahead of the @SADC_News elite Education conference at Rainbow Towers. It is clear the Zimbabwean State has become a predator, terrorizing ordinary citizens while shamelessly shielding corrupt looters. Unjust Detentions and Broken Promises. Currently, eleven dedicated members of our Parents Teachers Association remain unjustly held in Mutare, with no charges brought against them. We know, with grim certainty, that fabricated charges will soon be "cooked up" to justify their unlawful detention. The recent protests under the #saveoureducationzw campaign were entirely peaceful, raising legitimate demands for a fundamental right. It's truly tragic to witness police officers, whose own children struggle to access education and whose families are torn apart by economic hardship, being deployed to brutalize their fellow citizens. We are aware of the rising divorce rates among police officers, a direct consequence of their inability to provide for their families. `Follow and Share Change Radio for Real-Time News & Updates on WhatsApp!` https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va5kPp2KGGGQkePy4t1q A Call to Conscience: Stand with the People. We urgently appeal to all State employees: refuse to follow unlawful orders from the corrupt bosses who are plundering our nation dry. The Union's demands are not excessive; they are essential for the future of Zimbabwe: * Fair wages for teachers and all civil servants – no luxuries, just a living wage. * State-funded education for every single learner. * The right to collective bargaining for all civil servants, and the alignment of the Public Service Act with the 2013 Constitution. * Restoration of vacation leave for all public servants. * Recruitment of more teachers to address the alarming teacher-to-learner ratio, which has soared to 1:150 in some areas. Addressing these critical demands does not threaten @ZANUPF_Official hold on power. On the contrary, genuinely serving the people could be their last chance to salvage some legitimacy. We know there are no lucrative tenders in providing essential services, and those driven by greed (zvigananda) will never support true service delivery. Hope for a New Beginning Yet, we hold onto hope that a few in Cabinet and Parliament still remember the promise of liberation, the spirit of Gutsaruzhinji. We implore these individuals to champion a fresh start for our education system. We applaud every parent who has joined this vital fight. Fellow citizens, this is not just an ARTUZ struggle; it is our collective struggle. We all bear the responsibility to defend the right to inclusive, quality education for every learner. Education is the ultimate solution to our nation's myriad challenges. We must not allow those driven by insatiable greed to destroy the very foundation of our future. #saveoureducationzw
