YIP HOLDS ITS TENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING OF THE FOURTH PARLIAMENT

On Sunday 25th May, 2025, the Fourth Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM convened at the HTU SRC JCR, Ho Ghana for its Fifth Sitting of the Second Session, dubbed the TENTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING.
The Deputy Speakers of Parliament presided over the sitting; Second Deputy Speaker - 'Hon.' Magdalene Aduako (Ashanti-Mampong Youth MP) and Acting First Deputy Speaker – ‘Hon.’ Constantina Agbenorlawoduga (Okere Youth MP). The table office was headed by the Assistant Clerk – Affairs to Parliament, Miss Gloria Godslove-Klutsey, The Majority Caucus, led by the Majority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Hubert Agbaxode (Akatsi North Youth MP) whiles the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Wonder Nicodemus Dzameshie (Anlo Youth MP).
The sitting commenced with opening prayers. Afterward, communications from the Founders and Speaker were read by the Second Deputy Speaker for the attention of the House. Subsequently, Youth MPs present introduced themselves. The Chairman of the Business Committee, who also serves as the Majority Leader presented the Business Committee Report, which was adopted as the official agenda for the sitting.
At the commencement of Public Business, the Executive Director of YIM, Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo, presented to the house on events and accounts of the 4th Anniversary Special Joint Sitting held on Sunday 22nd April, 2025. He also informed the house on the 5th Parliament Nominations. Hon. Adam Usman (Interim Youth MP) made a presentation on AU Day as well.
At the commencement of Guest Business, Madam Deputy Speaker invited Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo to make a eulogy on the impact of the Ho Central MP on Youth Impact Parliament. ‘Hon.’ Harriet Senanu Abudey, the Ho Central Youth MP complemented the eulogy with appreciation for his support to the Parliament. ‘Hon.’ Mawuko Afeti (Interim Youth MP) introduced the Ho Central MP to the house as he approached the podium to speak to the house. Hon. Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu, MP for Ho Central in the 9th Parliament of the 4th Republic of Ghana spoke highly of Youth Impact Parliament. He shared his educational and professional journey, discussed the challenges and opportunities encountered by MPs in Ghana, and urged the Youth Parliament to use social media to educate the public on legislative duties. After his address, MPs engaged him with questions and comments, all of which he responded to. The House was temporarily suspended for 10 minutes to allow for a photo session with the guest MP.
At the commencement of the debate on the motion: " This House Believes the Recent Appreciation of the Cedi Is Primarily Attributable to Domestic Government Policies.," the Acting First Deputy Speaker, assumed the chair to preside over the debate. After the motion was moved and seconded by the Majority and Minority Leaders of Parliament, the House engaged in a rigorous debate. The Majority side argued in favour of the motion, highlighting the impact of domestic interventions leading to the appreciation of the cedi. Conversely, the Minority side opposed the motion, citing external happenings and indications leading to the appreciation of the cedi. Upon putting the question at the conclusion of the debate, the “NAYS” initially had it. However, the Majority Caucus called for a headcount, which resulted in a win for the “AYES”. The Deputy Speaker then officially declared the motion carried.
The Tenth Parliamentary Sitting of the Fourth Parliament was duly adjourned to the Eleventh Sitting.
