That's basically job title inflation; having a fancier title, without an actual job change. It's like getting a new label, but the contents inside remain the same.
This is usually done to:
- Boost employee morale and job satisfaction
- Attract and retain talent in a competitive job market
- Make the company appear more attractive or prestigious
