Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says it’s time to rethink how we treat ageing and retirement. With people living longer and working differently—especially gig and self-employed workers—he’s calling for serious changes to EPF and labour policies to stop Malaysians from facing poverty, isolation, or irrelevance in old age.
He also stressed that fair wages aren’t enough. We need stronger social protections and support systems that ensure sustainable income after retirement, not just lump-sum savings.
💬 Should EPF be restructured to offer monthly retirement payouts instead of one-off withdrawals?
