Let God Go Before You
Many times in life, we make decisions—big and small—without truly acknowledging that God is with us or seeking His will. We jump into relationships, jobs, business deals, or journeys based on our fleshly desires, only to later find ourselves confused, heartbroken, or even spiritually lost.
But the truth is this: before any step, before applying for a job, before starting a relationship, before entering a business, we must ask God: “Are You in this?”
> “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Many people accept job offers thinking it's an open door from God, but not every open door is divine. I once met someone who had a seemingly good job. But the workplace environment was toxic—gossiping colleagues, a harsh supervisor, and constant stress. It drove them to deep depression. Worse still, they sometimes weren’t even paid. What seemed like a blessing turned into a battle.
This reminds me of the Israelites in the wilderness. They cried for food, and God gave them manna. But when they craved meat out of their own desires, God gave it—but it became a curse to them.
> “But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the Lord was aroused against the people…” — Numbers 11:33 (NKJV)
Sometimes, what looks good can be spiritually dangerous. That’s why we must invite God into our decisions. Not all opportunities are meant to build you—some are traps designed to destroy your peace, your faith, and even your future.
Before accepting any job offer, before saying “yes” to anything, pause and pray. Ask:
“God, is this from You?”
“Are You going before me in this?”
> “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” — Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
Just as David always inquired of the Lord before going to battle (1 Samuel 23:2, 1 Samuel 30:8), so must we. Even Jesus, the Son of God, would withdraw to pray before making major decisions (Luke 6:12-13). If they needed God's direction—how much more do we?
You are not alone. You don’t have to guess your way through life. Let God go before you. Let Him destroy every hidden trap. Let Him make the crooked paths straight.
> “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
PRAYER FOR THIS MORNING:
“Heavenly Father, I surrender this day to You. I surrender every plan, every decision, and every opportunity before me. Go before me, Lord. Speak clearly. Close the doors that are not from You, and open only the doors You have prepared for me. Protect me from every trap, every false opportunity, every environment that would kill my joy and peace. Let Your will be done in my life. I trust You, and I wait on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
