On 18 January 2023, Nadiia was walking her daughter, Alisa, to kindergarten. They stopped to look at a helicopter flying low. Seconds later, it crashed right next to the building. Nadiia shielded her child from the flames. Both suffered severe burns. Since then, they've been through surgeries, hospital stays, and a long recovery — in Ukraine and abroad. Now, they're receiving scar treatment through the Neopalymi national programme. But more than anything, this is a story of resilience.
