President Paul Biya’s traditional allies in successive presidential polls in the last three decades and still counting, are being pictured to be gazing a possible divorce path with him this year. The Head of State, politician and leader of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, party has been plebiscited to serve as President of the Republic with the support of allied powers. With a record 43 years in power and possibly eying an eight mandate that could see him rule Cameroon for 50 years, the grounds on which Biya has walked to power in the voters’ rich bastion of the Grand North, is said to be shaky. The fear of this season is not the constant rhetoric of neglect, which regime critics have for years been highlighting to dissuade people across the Adamawa, North and Far North Regions.
