Cameroon has just ratified the new version of the European Union, EU, Trade Pact with African, Caribbean and Pacific nations, EU-ACP Trade Pact, (Samoa Agreement), which replaces the Cotonou version that expired since 2020. The new deal will also last for another 20 years, according to EU, which asserted that the Samoa Agreement is necessitated in a context where global geopolitical, economic and social landscape has undergone significant transformations. The vision-bearers insists that the end of the Cold War reshaped international alliances and saw the emergence of new economic and political powers. The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, has said government would soon start directly funding young entrepreneurs. The member of government made the declaration in Yaounde Monday. This was during the launch of the seventh edition of the Cameroonian Student’s Genius and Talent Contest, known by its French language acronym GETEC. The talents and skills of young people in the North West Region and beyond have been celebrated and rewarded by the Youth Outreach Programme, YOP. This was during the 3rd edition of the Youth Festival of Arts and Culture, Youth FESTAC. It aimed at commemorating this year's Day of the African Child. The festival, organised in Bamenda by YOP, brought together creatives from across the region, providing a platform for them to exhibit their skills, talents and also selling the rich culture of the region. The National Chairman of frontline opposition political party, the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Hon Osih Joshua, has dismissed skepticisms that votes do not count during elections in the country, due to rigging by the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement party, CPDM. Addressing a mega rally in Mutengene, on Friday, June 13, the SDF national chieftain and lawmaker, recounted how he won a parliamentary seat in Douala, where he was challenged by 20 other candidates. Frowning at growing voter apathy while fronting massive voter registration, Hon Osih Joshua was blunt that elections cannot be rigged when people vote massively. The management of Port Authority of Douala, PAD, has successfully renewed its ISO 9001 version 2015 certification. The compliance document was handed to PAD during a ceremony at the institution’s headquarters in Bonanjo on June 12, 2025. This came following a rigorous audit conducted by audit 'Office Veritas-UKAS' from July 29 to 31, 2024, with objective to ensure that the company's Quality Management System, QMS, remained in line with the requirements of ISO 9001 – version 2015. The Association for the Welfare of Albinos, AWA, in the North West Region, has begun pushing for an inclusive healthcare of albinos.
