The bateso has a proverb which says, ".Mam irutori amugit."
Literally meaning; do not uproot a pumpkin when shifting a homestead. We grow pumpkins around the house/huts. This particular proverb means that you shouldn’t injure relationships with the people you leave behind because you don’t know when you will.
