*"JCI Slumps Amid Global Uncertainties"*
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) tumbled in the first trading session Thursday, pressured by the U.S. Fed's reduced rate cut outlook and ongoing global uncertainties, including U.S. trade negotiations and Middle East tensions.
*_The JCI tumbled 99.97 points (1.41%) to 7,007.818 while the LQ45 fell 13.38 points (1.69%) to 779.37._* Trading activity saw 14.999 billion shares exchanged, with a total transaction value of Rp7.503 trillion, including Rp558 billion from negotiated trades. Market breadth showed 85 gainers, 568 losers, and 144 stocks unchanged.
In the currency market, Bank Indonesia’s official JISDOR reference weakened added 38 points (0.09%) to 16,281 per U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, the spot rupiah declined 38 points (0.23%) to 16,319.
*Global Markets*
Asian stocks broadly declined with Hong Kong leading losses as investors weighed the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision, while the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran continues to dent sentiment.
The U.S. Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on Wednesday, leaving its benchmark rate unchanged at 4.25%-4.5%, where it has stood since December. However, the Fed still pointed to two rate cuts later this year.
Elsewhere, Australia’s job market unexpectedly shrank in May, while the unemployment rate remained steady.
*Commodities*
Oil prices fell as investors hesitated to take new positions following mixed signals by President Donald Trump regarding the potential U.S. involvement in the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Gold prices gained as the Iran-Israel conflict persisted for the seventh day, boosting demand for the safe-haven asset, although the U.S. Federal Reserve's cautious stance on future rate cuts kept gains in check.
Malaysian palm oil prices rose for a second straight session, supported by strength in rival Dalian oils while the Chicago Board of Trade remained closed for a public holiday.
