By Darlington Gatsi, NewZimbabwe - Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya is facing legal action after failing to settle a US$420,140 debt owed to GetBucks Microfinance.
GetBucks has approached the High Court seeking to liquidate Magaya’s estate following allegations that the cleric has frustrated efforts to recover the loan, claiming he has no assets.
Last year, the High Court issued an order against Magaya, his wife Tendai, and their company Planet Africa (Private) Limited, where they are directors, requiring payment of US$420,140.72 plus interest.
Subsequently, a writ of execution was issued leading to the attachment of Planet Africa’s immovable property — a piece of land called the Remainder of Stand 166 of Prospect, measuring 3.2323 hectares (Deed of Transfer number 4076118, dated July 27, 2018) — scheduled for sale on March 28, 2025, as security for the debt.
However, GetBucks said efforts to execute the judgment have failed because Magaya and his wife have taken steps to avoid the sale.
Days before the scheduled sale, the respondents voluntarily placed Planet Africa under Corporate Rescue, frustrating the sale process.
The court was informed that there are no other assets available, and that the couple has abused legal procedures to avoid paying the debt.
“These include the PHD Ministries and The Walter Magaya Family Trust,” GetBucks said, accusing Magaya and his wife of using these entities to evade execution of court orders.
Magaya and his wife are prominent figures, with Magaya being the prophet at PHD Ministries.
“The two have presented themselves as individuals with nothing and have used entities as agents. They should show the court how they are settling personal obligations and sustaining themselves,” stated the application.
GetBucks requested the court to grant a provisional order to commence the liquidation process promptly and also sought punitive costs due to the abuse of court processes.
The matter was scheduled for a virtual hearing on Wednesday. NewZimbabwe
