The tragedy took place on the morning of 20 June 2025, at around 8:43AM. The 55-year-old man from Hendricourt, Kensington, was reversing his Toyota Hilux Double Cab to leave home. As he moved forward, the front left side of the vehicle struck the toddler and the front wheel ran over her. Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed that the child suffered head injuries and died on the spot. Inspector Msebele added that the accident happened because the driver failed to keep a proper lookout.
