As part of the DISVA seminars program and the Erasmus+ staff mobility (KA171 - International credit mobility n.2023-1-IT02-KA171-HED-000141784) initiative,
on FRIDAY, JUNE 13, STARTING AT 3:00 PM, in ROOM 111 (BLOCK A) at the Cittadella Universitaria di Monserrato,
the following seminars will be held:

“Natural Disasters and Disaster Management in Africa”
Alex Barakagira - holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental
Geography from Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. He is a
Ugandan environmental scientist, educator, and administrator with a
distinguished career in environmental sustainability and research.
He serves as the Dean and a Senior Lecturer at the School of
Sciences, Nkumba University, where he leads academic programs and
research initiatives focused on environmental science and natural
resource management. His research encompasses a wide range of
topics, including: Biodiversity Conservation; Climate change,
Ecosystem Ecology; Public Health; and Environmental Management among
others.
Ameria Nabukonde - is a Lecturer in the Department of Natural
Resources Management at Nkumba University. She is also the Head of
Department and Coordinator of Research in the School of Sciences.
Ameria is perusing a PhD in Natural Resources Management at Nkumba
University. She has several years of teaching, research, and
consultancy experience. Her research is mainly on Climate Change and
Disaster Risk Reduction, Waste Management, Environment
Sustainability, Promoting Environmental Conservation, Green
Infrastructure, Natural Resources Management, and many other, all of
which are tailored towards the attainment of SDGs.
