Bilal and Amira are our colleagues in Gaza. Just like the patients they treat, they can be subjected to unpredictable and ridiculously last-minute evacuation orders from Israeli forces. These evacuation orders can send them scrambling to collect a few items and their family members in the seconds before bombing starts, often in the middle of the night. 🎥 They shared with us how it feels to never know where is safe.

Women and girls are at near-constant risk of sexual violence in Sudan’s Darfur region: they are attacked in their homes, attacked while fleeing for safety, and attacked while trying to gather food, water, and firewood for their survival. Our teams in South Darfur, Sudan, treated 659 survivors of sexual violence between January 2024 and March 2025. 🔴 94% were women and girls 🔴 31% were younger than 18 🔴 56% said they were assaulted by a non-civilian This is a medical emergency. Survivors of extreme violence and torture need comprehensive healthcare that treats their psychological wounds along with their physical ones. That’s why we opened the El CAI in Mexico 🇲🇽, where people who have suffered extreme violence, like sexual assaults, kidnapping, and torture, along the Central American migration route can receive care that is focused on their entire well-being. After spending 3-6 months in the centre, our team of specialists hope that people are able to reintegrate back into society. Last year, 186 people joined the programme.
