There is a fish that swims against the current… simply to give life. The salmon. It is born in the river, but grows up in the sea. And when the time comes to reproduce, it doesn’t stay where life is easy. Instead, it returns to the place where it began. It swims upstream, conquers rapids and waterfalls, dodges bears, leaps over rocks. It keeps going, even when it’s wounded, even when its body is exhausted, even when its skin is torn by the journey. And still, it doesn’t stop. Because its instinct isn’t to run away from pain— it’s to reach the place it was meant to be. And when it finally arrives, the salmon lays its eggs gently, protects its young… and then lets itself go. Not because it lost. But because it fulfilled its mission. That’s the way of the salmon: They don’t live long, but they give everything in the time they have. And in their silent struggle, they leave us with a lesson many people forget: Sometimes the greatest love isn’t the love that brings you pleasure— but the love that asks for sacrifice. The ones who loved us most were the ones who wore themselves out just to see us happy. Like those parents who broke their backs working, who did the hard things so that we could have it easy. Like those who never left… until their purpose was fulfilled. And when we see them go, we realize they didn’t leave empty. They left in peace. Because they gave their lives for love.
