*Delicious Garlic & Ginger Rice* _by Rumbie from ZimboKitchen_ The flavours in this rice recipe are simply incredible & add a delightful depth of taste to the final product. It's an excellent alternative to the standard plain boiled white rice, particularly if you're not using aromatic rice varieties. After all, variety is the spice of life! *Servings:* 3 - 4 *Takes:* 20 - 25 min *Serving Suggestion:* Enjoy as a side dish with your preferred relish and vegetables *========* *GET This* *========* 2 cups rice 4 cups water 3 tbsp cooking oil 3 cloves garlic, grated 1 tsp ginger, grated 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp mild curry powder 1 small onion, chopped 1 large carrot, cubed *=======* *DO This* *=======* 1. Get your ingredients together. Put your oil in a pot. Add the garlic and ginger. Fry on low heat for about 2 min. This is so that the oil adopts the flavour of garlic and ginger. 2. Increase the heat and add the onions and curry powder. Fry for a minute. Add the carrots and fry for a further 2 min, stirring occasionally. 3. Add the rice and stir. Allow this to fry for 2 min, stirring regularly to make sure the rice does not stick to the pot. 4. Add water and salt. Stir a little and close the pot. 5. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer until the rice is cooked. 6. Fluff up the rice using a fork. Enjoy! *=======* Notes *=======* 1. You may use any rice of your preference for this recipe. 2. Make your cubed carrots small-medium in size, so they are not too big in the rice dish. *=======* ZimboKitchen © 2025.
