📢 *Kind Attention* Dear Publishers, In light of the *_Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023_* , effective from *March 1, 2024* , PRGI clarifies that *books, or journals of academic, scientific, or technical nature do not qualify as periodicals* under the new Act. ➡️ Fresh registration applications for such journals *will not be accepted* . ➡️ Already registered journals (as per old PRB Act, 1867) may *either cease registration or continue to comply* with the PRP Act, 2003 as desired by the owner/publisher. 📢 *Kind Attention* Dear Publishers, The last date for *e-filing of Annual Statements for FY 2024–25* through the *Press Sewa Portal* (https://presssewa.prgi.gov.in/#/) has been *extended up to 30th June 2025.* 🖥️ Publishers are encouraged to complete their filings well in time to avoid last-minute issues. 📢 *Kind Attention* Dear Publishers, If you have been publishing your periodical regularly since its registration but it is categorised as _*'Defunct*_ ' for not filing the Annual Statements for 3 consecutive years, you can *reactivate the Registration* by submitting a *Publication Continuity Certificate (PCC)*. ✅ PCC can be issued by: * District Magistrate * District Information Officer * Press Information Bureau 📝 *Physical submission* of PCC is still *valid* , as online integration is underway. 📢 *Public Notice to Publishers* As per *Section 12* of the *Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023* , all publishers must submit their *Annual Statement* on the *Press Sewa Portal* by *31st May each year* ( _Extension has been provided this year, till 30th June 2025_ ). 🛑 Many have failed to comply, leading to classification as " *Defunct Periodicals* ". Under *Section 11(d)* , failure to submit the annual statement within 2 years for the end of the financial year for which the annual statement was to be furnished empowers the Press Registrar General *to suspend or cancel registrations.* 🛑 Publishers in the defunct category must now submit their ' *Publication Continuity Certificate* ' (Advisory No. 11 of 2025) *within 3 months (from the issue of this Advisory), to avoid suspension of their registration* . 📢 *Attention Publishers! E-filing of Annual Statement Now Open on Press Sewa Portal for FY 2024-25* The window for *e-filing of Annual Statements* under the *Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023* has officially begun from *May 1, 2025* . All publishers registered with *PRGI* (formerly RNI) are advised to file their statements *online* . 📝 *Key Points:* * Filing is mandatory under *Section 12(1) of Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023.* * Periodicals with avg. daily circulation *≥ 2000* must get their Annual Statements *certified by a registered CA* . * CAs must also register themselves on the portal. 📢 *Important Update for Publishers* As per the PRP Act, 2023, effective from April 1, 2024, applications for Registration of Periodical will be accepted online via the *Press Sewa Portal* only: https://presssewa.prgi.gov.in ❌ Physical applications will no longer be processed. 🗂️ Incomplete physical applications with no response to the Discrepancy Letters for over a month will be closed. ✅ You can re-apply online on Press Sewa Portal without delay. *Important Advisory for Owners/Publishers on Press Sewa Portal* We've identified discrepancies in the *mapping of titles* on Press Sewa Portal—some remain unmapped, while others are incorrectly mapped under the wrong entities. This poses a serious compliance risk. 🛑 Effective from 15th June 2025, only correctly mapped titles will be eligible for PRGI-related processing. ✅ *Action Required*: All Owners/Publishers are urged to immediately verify and rectify their title mappings on the Press Sewa Portal to ensure that: ▫️They have accurately mapped all titles belonging to them. ▫️They have NOT mapped any titles that don’t belong to them. *Let's work together to maintain transparency, accuracy, and seamless PRGI operations.* Please check out the PRGI's official *Advisory No.15 of 2025*: https://prgi.gov.in/sites/default/files/2025-05/advisory_no._15_0001_0.pdf
