*Kwekwe Teen Receives Life Sentence for Murder and S€xu@l Assau|t of Aunt’s Corpse📰* *Kwekwe News Bulletin* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vadb1KKIiRoom1e73h2t The High Court in Gweru has sentenced 19-year-old Tapiwa Mereka from Kwekwe to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his 41-year-old aunt, Mary Mereka. In a shocking twist, he also s€xu@lly assau|ted her corpse after killing her in a maize field. The crime unfolded on January 27, 2023, at Plot Number 61 in Maywood, Kwekwe, where Tapiwa and his aunt were working together. Without any warning, Tapiwa attacked her, striking her multiple times on the head with a hoe, resulting in her instant death. Following the murder, he s€xu@|ly assau|ted her corpse, took her undergarments, and fled the scene, discarding the murder weapon near Sebakwe River. During the sentencing, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, who was presiding in Gweru, described the crime as premeditated. He highlighted that Tapiwa had taken advantage of the isolated location to commit the attack without fear of being interrupted. Tapiwa confessed to the crime and guided investigators to the location where he had hidden both the murder weapon and the stolen clothing. Prosecutor Talent Tadenyika from the National Prosecuting Authority detailed how Tapiwa first struck his aunt with the blunt side of the hoe before delivering the fatal blows, which caused excessive bleeding and led to her immediate death. Tapiwa was represented in court by defense lawyer Samantha Chivivi from Hara Tafa Associates. The body of Mary Mereka was discovered by 67-year-old Winnie Murega, who promptly alerted the authorities, leading to Tapiwa's swift arrest.
