In this age, money is a tool. It's not the goal, but the tool needed to close the goal gap whatever yours may be. Have you ever felt the peace of mind that comes from having a healthy wallet or bank account? Now think of how you feel when that account is zero and you have pending bills, family needs, unmet promises (all mostly financial) etc. Before you misappropriate anyone for saying all they want now is money, think again. It may be the one thing their peace is dependent upon. I remember being dragged to the police station to pay for a loan I never took or borrowed. A friend had used me as a surety without my knowledge and bailed in thin air - no where to be found. There was I with a flat account and forced to ask help from another friend to post bail at 50,000 XAF. In that moment and the days that followed, the only thing on my mind was money - look for it, solve the problem denying you your peace, and save enough not to get embarrassed again in the future. What's your take on money? Do you still think it's the root of all evil?

The thing about aid is that it often leaves a dependency syndrome on the receiver unless a sustainability clause is inbuilt within the aid strategy. The American People have supported us for years, and that is charity. It was not made on a promise that it would be there forever. It was made on the hope that we’ll learn how to stand on our own. #USAID is “From the American People”. What can we do to have aid “From the Cameroonian People” or “From the Nigerian People” and you name the rest as befitting of your context? You use advanced technology like AI or automated systems to save time then gain time only to feel depressed because you have more time on your hands to waste on - Mindless scrolling feeling like you're stuck in an endless loop. - Listening to news that makes you more anxious, or watching endless videos. - Endless browsing, comparing your live to others. - Overthinking and worrying, fueled by the constant bombardment of information. - Feeling pressure to stay connected, yet feeling disconnected from meaningful relationships. Technology makes us efficient, but efficiency is its own trap. We've got to find a way to be productive, yet busy enough to make life interesting. Without a sense of purpose, we're left feeling bored, unfulfilled, and undignified. Work is dignity. Take it away, and we feel lost. Ask yourself why most people die quickly after retirement? It's because they can't find fulfilling avenues to put their time to use. Death then becomes the reasonable escape, whether we approve of it or not.
