This was the best and sustainable source of water in those years, due to climate change obviously coursed by human activities have put to risk these natural water springs. Let's protect them. Cut those eucalyptus trees you planted so close to the aquifers, stop the agricultural and other human activities around them. Let's protect our resources. *A DAY WELL SPENT @Mumboha Primary School JSS* Inaugural Eco-EdVantage School Mentorship Initiative 27th/05/2025 A huge thank you to all the partners, collaborators, and generous donors who contributed sanitary towels—your support made a real difference. Special appreciation to Asikhale Youth Empowerment CBO, KNCCI-VIHIGA, Mega Motive, IGrow Africa Centre, Joyful Eco Minds, EVIMNET, Vihiga Scouts Association, The Green Embassy Kenya and others for their commitment to this initiative. One of the biggest wins from the our very first Eco-EdVantage School Mentorship Initiative program is the agreement with Mumboha Primary School to establish a WASH club, which will play a crucial role in sustaining the program and promoting peer-to-peer education. However, some key gaps were identified: - Inadequate toilets , affecting sanitation and hygiene. - No water tanks for rainwater harvesting, limiting access to clean water. - Insufficient handwashing points/taps, making hygiene practices challenging. - Proper landscaping. We call on the Ministry of Education, County Government, elected leaders, enthusiasts, and all concerned individuals and organizations to step forward and support these efforts to improve the school's WASH infrastructure. Youth-Led Climate Action at CECARE Symposium Kaimosi Friends University Today, at the Kaimosi Friends University's Centre of Excellence for Climate Action (CECARE), the Vihiga Youth WASH Parliament proudly joined stakeholders from government, civil society, and academia to advance climate resilience efforts under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program (FLLOCA). We presented a concept note on Circular Economy through Insect Farming (BSF & Vermiculture) as a solution for managing the 60% organic waste within Vihiga—approximately 48 tonnes daily! By engaging youth in sustainable waste management, we drive climate action, inclusivity, and greater impact for a greener future. 🌿♻️ We hope our proposal will be considered by the Department of Environment Water Energy Natural Resources & Climate Change for FLLOCA funding, allowing us to scale innovative solutions that empower communities while addressing waste and climate challenges.
