In 2005, Laventille and its environs, the area referred to as the East Port of Spain Metropolitan District (East PoS), was declared a Special Development Zone. Special attention was to be paid to the economic and social challenges faced by its residents. The ultimate goal being the reduction of regional disparities and the creation of sustainable communities. Cabinet Minute No. 2384 of September 15, 2005 agreed to the incorporation of the East Port of Spain Development Company (the Company) as a Limited Liability Company, wholly owned by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. Happening now at the Belmont Community Centre! The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) has collaborated with the Student and Professional Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (SPOTT) to host a workforce readiness event titled “Presenting Yourself to the World”. The event is a free initiative designed to prepare young people, many of whom have completed EPOS skills-training programmes, for successful entry into the workforce. This one-day event offers participants practical support through mock interviews, resume reviews, professional styling and make-up consultations, mental wellness guidance, and professional headshot photography. Additionally, the event features a panel discussion with industry professionals in Human Resources, Communications, and related fields, aimed at helping participants better understand how to market themselves and navigate the world of work. EPOS is proud to be a part of this impactful initiative to help prepare our young people for the world of work!

On March 26th, 2025, the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nu Wave Automotive Limited (Nu Wave) to provide internships for graduates who excelled in our Automotive Services programme, facilitated by the NESC Technical Institute. Today, we’re proud to see our interns embracing this opportunity to apply what they’ve learned, deepen their knowledge, and gain real-world experience in the automotive industry. Public–private partnerships like these create meaningful pathways for our youth to develop practical skills and build lasting careers. EPOS thanks Nu Wave for supporting this initiative and looks forward to partnering with other entities to promote development in East Port of Spain.

The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) continues its partnership with the Adult Literacy Tutors Association (ALTA) to provide essential literacy support in several schools across East Port of Spain, through the ALTA Online platform. For some students, the transition into secondary school comes with challenges in reading, writing, and numeracy. This programme offers them the opportunity to strengthen those foundational skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Already, students are showing marked improvement in their grades and in their overall classroom performance. ALTA CEO Mrs. Arlene Wallace-Romero spoke on the significance of this partnership, during a recent visit to the Success Laventille Secondary School. The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) supports the ongoing Pure Love Football Tournament, currently taking place at the Duncan Street Basketball Court in Port of Spain. Launched on April 18, the six-week tournament brings together eight teams from East Port of Spain and neighbouring communities, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and community pride. This impactful initiative is a collaborative effort between SEPOS Cultural Workshop Inc. and Pure Love, aimed at promoting unity, positivity, and personal growth among young men in the area. Through sport, the Pure Love Football Tournament aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where participants can build discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills—essential tools for their ongoing development and success. EPOS remains committed to supporting programmes that uplift and inspire the youth of East Port of Spain.
