Unpredictable rains, extreme heat, and shifting seasonsโ#climatechange is severely hitting Indiaโs poor small holder women farmers - making thier lives and livelihoods unsustainable. Therefore through #SEWAโs #BuildingCleanerSkies campaign and #agriculturecampaign, women farmers are being equipped with the knowledge and tools to make their agriculture climate resilient against the increasingly frequent and intense climate shocks. The challenges are manyโloss of crops, financial instability, and increased dependence on expensive chemical fertilizers that further degrade the soil. But SEWA is working relentlessly to change this. Through innovative climate-resilient solutions, SEWA is helping women farmers like Kapilaben adapt, recover, and build a future where climate shocks do not dictate their survival. SEWA strongly believes that climate resilience is about preparedness, access to technology, collective strength and #womenled #ClimateAction. The battle against climate change is tough, but with knowledge, innovation, and unity, women like Kapilaben are turning their struggles into strength! Join us in empowering more women farmers to fight climate change. Share this story and spread the word!

Over 60% of SEWAโs members are small and marginal women farmers, sharecroppers and agricultural laborers - associated with agriculture, a sector facing the brunt of escalating climate risks. Therefore, SEWA has been spearheading the #BuildingCleanerSkies and #Agriculture Campaigns focus on building climate resilience of these members and their livelihoods by enhancing agricultural sustainability through innovative strategies. As poor smallholders tried switching to organic and regenerative farming following the capacity building initiatives, SEWA quickly realized that affordable access to organic inputs was an important bottleneck to implementation. Therefore, SEWA piloted the transformative "Agri-Input Centerโ initiative, training rural women as micro-entrepreneurs โ producing and selling organic and eco-friendly agro-inputs and essentials in their villages and community, turning challenges into entrepreneurial opportunities.

๐น Impact in Action: Today, 33 SEWA members run their own Agro-input centres across four states, each earning annual profits up to INR 40,000. These centres are more than just businesses; they're community lifelines promoting sustainable practices and regenerative farming, restoring soil health, and reducing dependency on harmful chemicals. Why It Matters: Through these initiatives, SEWA is not just preserving the environmentโit's fostering women-led climate action and promoting economic independence. Women are at the forefront, steering their communities towards safer, sustainable agricultural practices. "Our Building Cleaner Skies Campaign doesnโt just enable us to make our agriculture sustainable and help transform and preserve our land, air and water; it also empowers women like me to not just strengthen my agriculture but also to lead and uplift entire communities," says Induben Rathod, a proud owner of Agro-input centre and a member of SEWA from Surrendrnagar district. Join us in supporting these trailblazing women who are nurturing a greener tomorrow. Every like, share, and comment amplifies our voice for a sustainable future!
