That’s the message from Cllr Marina Asvachin, Exeter’s Lead Councillor for Housing. Engineers of the future are getting a chance to gain hands-on experience of a real-life engineering project in Exeter. The students from Exeter College have been given an opportunity to observe engineers working on a project to rebuild a collapsed wall in Countess Wear Road. Cllr Ruth Williams, who has responsibility for waterways, said the Quay and Canal, which are maintained by Exeter City Council, are a fantastic resource for residents, visitors and users of the waterway. A number of boats have recently been craned in and out of the water at Gabriel’s Wharf and the waterway remains important for commercial users as well as leisure enthusiasts.
