Business Botswana President, Mr. Neo Nwako has relaunched the BB-CHINA Office during the recently concluded 4th China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE). The office is positioned as a strategic hub to attract Chinese investment, facilitate trade, and strengthen economic cooperation between Botswana and China. The relaunch was held during the Botswana Investment and Business Promotion Government-to-Business (G2B) High-Level Roundtable Forum, hosted by BB-CHINA. The event brought together over 150 delegates, including more than 80 leading enterprises from both countries, alongside senior government officials and private sector leaders. Among the dignitaries in attendance were Hon Tiroaone Ntsima, Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship; Hon. Onneetse Ramogapi, Minister of Water and Human Settlement; Dr. Motswiri Oupa Tsheko, Chief of Staff in the Office of the President; and Mr. Huang Xufeng, Deputy Mayor of Changde City. Botswana’s private sector continues to step up for national disaster response! At the PSDRF status update and cheque handover ceremony held yesterday, 18th June 2025 at Cresta Lodge, the Private Sector Disaster Response Fund (PSDRF) celebrated over P15 million raised (P9.7M in cash) toward relief efforts and long-term preparedness. Funds are already making an impact in Botswana. Projects like repairing potholes in Gaborone, supporting malaria response, aiding vulnerable families, and more are being undertaken. Key leaders in attendance included Minister of State President Honourable Moeti Mhwasa, BB President Neo Nwako, and PSDRF Chair Butler Phirie. Donors like Sandfire, FNB, NMG, Western Furniture, and many others were honoured for their contributions. “Every thebe will be accounted for.” – Mr. Justice Moilwa “We pledge transparency and accountability.” – Mr. Neo Nwako. Business Botswana participated in the pre-launch of the Institute for Labour and Employment Studies - ILES 4th Annual Labour Conference, scheduled for 21–22 August 2025 in Gaborone. The conference will be held under the theme " Future Ready: Labour Rights and Productivity in the Digital Revolution." As an employer organisation mandated to advocate for a conducive labour environment and sustainable economic growth, Business Botswana will deliver a key presentation at the event. Presented in collaboration with tripartite partners, the session will focus on policy to practice, strengthening and enforcement of human and labour rights.

Business Botswana Vice President North, Mr. Humphrey Nawa, officially handed over household furniture donated by Western Furnitures to families in Francistown who were affected by the devastating floods earlier this year. The furniture will provide much-needed comfort and support to families as they continue to rebuild their lives. The Chairperson of the Private Sector Disaster Response Fund (PSDRF), Mr. Butler Phirie, welcomed executives from the Botswana Tamil Cultural Association (BTCA), who generously donated P8,001 towards the fund. During the meeting, Mr. Phirie shared the purpose and future plans of the fund, highlighting its role in supporting public education and early warning awareness campaigns, amongst others. He also encouraged BTCA to continue supporting the initiative, emphasizing that the fund is guided by strong governance principles, with transparency and accountability as top priorities. The Chairperson of BTCA expressed appreciation for the fund’s efforts and commended its impact on national resilience. We sincerely thank the Botswana Tamil Cultural Association (BTCA) for their generous contribution and continued commitment to community welfare. Their support exemplifies the strength and unity of the private sector.
